Forts and Pizzas

Jan.-5-12             

                Good morning peoples! It is Thursday today and we are still in Guaymas. Yesterday morning began with Liam and I working on our home school. We did that for a few hours while my dad did work. We recently realized that our windless (a machine that drops and raises the anchor) wasn’t working very well, so my dad spent most of his day working on that.

                Later my brother and I spent most of our day reading. Eventually we got board and got of the boat. We decided to go around the yard finding scrap pieces of metal and wood to make a fort. It took me about an hour to complete mine, although my brother still had to work on his. That night when my dad was making eggs for dinner, we noticed that a bag of groceries we had bought the day before, was mysteriously missing! We had no idea what had become of this poor old bag of groceries, but we soon decided to move on from this tragic event. We ate our dinner in sadness. Now if I could get all who are reading this to stop for a moment and close their eyes. Think of this  beautiful bag of groceries that has helped our life in so many ways. We shall remember you to the day we die. We will dream about you and write poems about the amazing life you had, and how your legend will go down in history. Just like Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. Thank you for helping us through the good and bad times. You shall live on!!!!!!   

                After dinner, we began to play a geography card game that Liam had received from his teacher in Toronto. Liam won and I lost. L After wards we went to sleep.

                The next morning Liam and I read some more, and then ate or delicious apple flavoured cheerio’s. After we did some more home schooling, my dad went into town with some other people to see if he could get someone to fix the windless motor, which he brought with him. Liam and I played on the computer while he was gone. When he got back, about an hour later, the three of us caught a bus and rode it to the sports centre. They have tons of soccer fields, there’s basketball courts, swimming pools, tennis courts, volley ball, boxing, and baseball diamonds. Liam was desperate to play some soccer with the natives, so he got my dad to go beg the coach of a soccer team to let Liam play. As he did so, a group of curious youngsters gathered into a clump to stare at my father. Eventually the coach agreed to let my brother play and said he could also come along on Saturday to play a real game. After we walked back to our boat in the dark. When we got back, my dad made us some delicious pizza. I then began to do the blog which I am doing now.

Hooray Day!

Hello ladies and gentlemen

On Monday we got up and did our homeschooling, hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then when we were done, we went grocery shopping, hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First we took the bus into town and went to the bank, there was a really big line up to use the ATM.

After that we went to a taco stand on the side of the road, but it turns out they were out of tacos, so we had hot dogs.

Then we went grocery shopping, hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While we were in the grocery store some random Mexican guy came up to me and started calling my name, so I walked off.

When we finished we got a taxi, and it took the driver so long to figure out where we were going, but finally he found out.

When we got back we put the groceries up on the boat, and then we got some chips from the store at the top of the road.

When we got back I took a shower, it was freezing, then when I tried to turn it off it didn’t, so we had to get the guard to try to fix it, but it turns out I broke it.

The next day is today, but tomorrow it will be yesterday, so let’s  just put it this way, it is 2012-01-03.

We got up and did homeschooling, hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that is why I am doing this blog right now, and I am now done, hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back to the Boat!

Jan.-1-12

                Today is New Years Day, and we are on our boat which is out of the water at the moment. We are in a city in Mexico called Guaymas. The temperature is not too hot and not too cold.

We arrived here last night on a bus that we had been riding for six hours. We caught it in a city called Los Mochis which we stayed in for a night. The day before that, we also caught a six hour bus ride from Mazatlan, to Los Mochis. The buses were pretty nice actually. The seats were comfortable and there were TV’s, although there was only one movie in English, and I had already seen it. The day before the first bus trip, we had to catch three planes. The first from buffalo to Detroit (we also caught a bus from Toronto to Buffalo) then Detroit to Mexico City. That flight was five hours, and Liam and I were really disappointed when we found out that there were no TV’s on the seats. The next flight was from Mexico City to Mazatlan. The plane was really small but it lasted about an hour and a half. The Mazatlan International Airport was surprisingly really small, considering how many tourists go there for vacation.

From there we caught a taxi to our hotel, right across the street from the beach. Than night we decided to go out for dinner. We decided to stop at one, fairly close to our hotel, only because they were playing Manchester United on a large TV. I had beef tacos, my dad had shrimp tacos, and my brother had chicken tacos.

The next day we went out for breakfast and then spent most of the day at the beach swimming in the waves, or digging a giant hole in the ground.

                The next day we caught the six hour bus to Los Mochis. There we went out for dinner. I had tacos again, my brother had tostadas, and my dad had enchiladas. The next day we caught the next bus to Guaymas. The city we are in now.

                When we arrived to the marina yesterday in a cab, somebody else had a boat there and they told us that there was going to be a New Year’s Party starting at eight thirty. We took a nap until then and then headed to the party, but no one was there, so we went back to our boat and slept to eleven thirty and then went to the party. Everyone was there and there was a bon-fire going. We only stayed a bit to eat some chips and cake. After that we came back and went to sleep.

This morning we woke up and Liam and I played some volley ball. I made lunch and Liam did his homework. Now I’m going back out to play some more volley ball.

Liam - Mayhem throughout the streets

Mayhem throughout the streets.

We woke up in the morning, and everything was soaked, so we quickly packed up, and left.

The first thing we did that day, was eat a rip off lunch in a place called Sault Saint Marie, right across the river from the U.S.A.

After that we went for gas at the gas station, and then kept driving.

We kept driving to Sudbury, and decided to come straight back to Toronto, so we got a pizza at, PIZZA PIZZA!!!!

Then we went to see a big nickel, that was made, because they mine nickel there.

Then we drove for a long time on the highway. It was really nice, we were the only car on the road, and there was very nice scenery.

When we arrived in Barrie, it started raining really hard, we could hardly see, then there was a lot of lightning. Everyone on the highway was going very slow, everyone had their emergency lights on, and there were a lot of people pulling over to the side of road, so we did aswell.

There was a radio antenna around three hundred metres from us, and you could see the lightning hitting it,  after it hit it, you could see smoke rising from it.

After we pulled over we went back on the road, we were worried we might get hit by a car.

Finally the storm passed, so it was a nice drive the rest of the way.

When we got back, it was 12:00 PM, we parked the car at our grandmas and then walked back, and that was the end of our trip.

Kai - Northen Ontario

                The morning after the thunderstorm,  we woke to find everything soaked. The chairs, the tents, and everything on our table. We packed all of our muddy gear and then took off as soon as we could. Nothing really happened at all that day except for the long drive. Our only stop was in Thunder Bay, where we went to Subway for dinner. That restaurant is always good.

                After Thunder Bay we kept driving until we decided to go to this place called Sleeping Giant that was way out in Lake Superior. On the drive there, we saw a little cute porcupine. I wanted to go hug it, but I knew that that would result in extreme pain. So I let it be.

                 We picked a campsite that was right in front of a lake and had a great view. While we were there, we decided that Sleeping Giant was our favourite campground yet. The water was warm and for once it wasn’t buggy! So we put up our tents and then had a nice fire.

                That night, when Liam and I were in the tent, we saw the shadow of what looked like a deer outside of our tent. It had four skinny legs and it looked like it kept bending over to get grass, and also it was making a weird noise, but eventually we fell asleep.

                The next morning, we woke to find our dad yelling “Get up, get up quick we need to go!” We got up and found that it was raining there was thunder. So we packed our bags and were about to leave when it suddenly stopped. So we went on a quick hike there and then left.

                On the drive, we stopped for my dad to get coffee from a truck stop. He said it tasted horrible. After a bit of driving, we came to a lookout where I had had my picture taken when just me and my dad went across Canada. So we took another picture. After that we stopped at a really nice beach for about fifteen minutes. We walked up and down and then got back into the car. We drove all the way to Wawa and got my second picture with the goose.

                After all that entertainment, we went to a campsite at rabbit lake. It was fairly nice. We sat by the lake, had dinner had a fire and then went to sleep.

Liam - Leaving the Praries

We left Oak lake in the morning, and were driving past Winnipeg in the afternoon, it was just a normal city from the looks of.

This was going to be our last day in the prairies, so we had to really enjoy it.

It was really cool, because al of a sudden the prairies just ended, and it turned into forest, so we knew we were getting close to Ontario(We entered Ontario around twenty minutes later, you could really tell a difference between the prairies and Ontario.

As soon as we entered Ontario we stopped at a visitor center to ask were the best camp sites were, then we left.

We went to a place called blue lake, it was really nice.

While we were setting up the tents, we heard a moose making a weird calling noise, so I went to look for it but I couldn’t find it.

After we were all done getting the tents ready, we went down to a stage to watch a movie about spiders, it was really cool, and kind of freaked me out.

After the movie, we had a fire, and with the fire we had jiffy pop(pop corn.)

After that we went to bed. During the night, there was a lot of thunder and lightning, it was really bight, loud and close.

Wednesday 31 August

                We started our morning with a swarm of wasps. It was a huge effort, trying to eat our breakfast, and putting away our tents, but we were extremely thankful when we finally left. The camp ground was really far out of our way so it took quite a while to get back on the road, and once we got there, we had to stop to get gas and for my dad to get his coffee. When we were pulling into the gas station, we saw a little cute prairie dog! It was the first time Liam has ever seen one. After that we went to a Walmart. We bought groceries and we looked around a bit. On the way out we saw some people sleeping in a tent in the parking lot. Who knows why though.

                We drove for quite a while, and the next big town we got to was Moose Jaw. We all thought, “who would want to name a town Moose Jaw?” We just drove through it though. After Moose Jaw, we got to Regina. The view of the city from the highway wasn’t very nice because they were working on the highway and there were lots of dump trucks. We only stopped for a minute and then kept driving through the flat prairies until we finally came to Manitoba. It was Liam’s first time. Right when we got in, we went straight to a visitor centre to find out about camping. The women told us to go to the Four Seasons Resort by Oak lake.

                It was about thirty minutes to get there and it was on an island. when we got there we paid, put up the tents, got wood, and then Liam and I got slushies and then drank them around our small fire. Liam and I then went to bed.
